Alleged Thief Caught Red-Handed in Gravenhurst Break and Enter

The Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person in relation to a break and enter.

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 4:30 a.m. Bracebridge OPP were dispatched to a break and enter in progress at an address on Pinedale Road in Gravenhurst. The victim reported that a woman had broken into their home through a window. No injuries were reported.

Police arrived and located the woman still inside the residence and subsequently arrested and charged 35-year-old Emma DUPUIS of Bracebridge, ON with Break and Enter and Fail to Comply with Release Order. She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on May 26, 2026 to answer to her charges.

    Please research the negative association with the term “red-handed”. In a time when Canada is trying to make amends to Indigenous people, we all need to be aware of how these perjorative terms are embedded in our language.

    So is she in jail? Has she been involved in violent incidents in the past? It must really frustrate the police when the same people are caught, convicted, slapped on the wrist and told to behave.
