It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Jeanette (Jan) Reeves on July 7th, 2024, in her 82nd year.
Surrounded by family and friends, she passed peacefully at home exactly as she had wished to. Known as Jan by most, she had a wonderful and fulfilling life with many years volunteering as a swimming instructor at the YMCA. She became a teacher during her younger days and later moving to Muskoka, she became a valued member of the Ontario court system. Besides her successful career, Jan was a wife for over 62 years, mother and grandmother and a good friend to anyone who needed help or just a cup of tea. Jan volunteered on the Milford Bay Hall Board and Recreation Committee, founded the Local Milford Bay Public Library, was an OFSC Director, and Secretary and Treasurer for The Milford Bay Snow Bombers in the earlier years, spending hours volunteering as some of the many enjoyments and past times she loved during her time in the Muskoka’s.
Eventually relocating up in the Ottawa Valley in Westmeath and Beachburg, Jan was an active member of the seniors’ clubs in both Westmeath and Beachburg, getting involved more times than not. Her love for animals was very evident, always having pets and even adopting rescue kittens who just became part of her family. She loved many crafts from quilling, card making and painting of which some of her artistry won her ribbons in the local fairs.
Jan is survived by her husband, Gordon Reeves; son, Grant Reeves, (Teresa); daughter, Miranda Jaye Shellswell (Grant); granddaughter, Sydney Reeves; and sisters, Andrea Kilroy and Lisa Mertinz. She will be sadly missed by many and forever in our hearts. Anyone who wishes to make a donation in her memory can do so to the Renfrew SPCA. A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date.
