Beaver Creek escapees tracked down with K9 assistance

A pair of escapees from Beaver Creek Institution in Gravenhurst didn’t make it far thanks to the OPP.

Jeffery Parker, 53, recently appeared in a Bracebridge courtroom to plead guilty to escape from lawful custody.

Court heard that on March, 16, 2025 at roughly 1:15 pm the Bracebridge OPP received a call from Beaver Creek staff saying that two inmates were unaccounted for.

The two inmates walked off the property, up a hill and into the surrounding forest, court heard. The OPP emergency response team and K9 units were deployed and managed to track the two men down roughly an hour later and one km away from the facility.

The officers also confiscated two backpacks that contained alcohol and vape pens.

Parker was sentenced to an additional three months in jail on top of his current sentence. He is set to release in 2027.
