Bracebridge man sentenced after stealing safe, breaching house arrest

A Bracebridge man has been sentenced to time served and 18 months of probation after pleading guilty to theft under $5,000 and breaching the terms of a house arrest order.

Luke  Forester recently pleaded guilty in Bracebridge court to theft under $5,000 and failing to comply with a conditional sentence order.

Court heard that shortly after midnight on Dec. 8, 2025, Ontario Provincial Police received a report that Forester had stolen a safe from a woman after giving her a tattoo at a residence in Bracebridge.

The safe contained approximately $2,000 in cash, which was never recovered. Forester also admitted to stealing clothing from the victim.

The court also heard that Forester breached the terms of a house arrest sentence he was serving by failing to remain at an approved residence in the Township of Muskoka Lakes. Police became involved after being contacted by the individual acting as his surety.

Forester was sentenced to time served (121 days), followed by 18 months of probation. He was also ordered to pay restitution for the unrecovered money and stolen property.
