A man who held up a convenience store in Huntsville pled guilty to lesser charges in Bracebridge court earlier today.
Joseph Whitfield, 29, of Huntsville pled guilty to theft under $5,000.
On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 12:38 a.m, Huntsville OPP officers responded to a report of a robbery at a Circle K store on Hanes Road in Huntsville after a man entered the store, demanded “everything” and made off with a small amount of cash and cigarettes, according to an OPP report.
After an investigation that included tips from members of the public, police arrested and charged Whitfield with robbery.
In court today Whitfield agreed that he would not pled guilty to robbery but instead guilty to the lesser charge of theft.
His sentencing was put over until June 12, 2024. He is also facing several other charges, which will be dealt with on that day.
