Community mourns loss of young Gravenhurst man after fatal collision

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the family of 23-year-old Cody Nelson following the fatal collision that claimed his life on May 21 in Bracebridge.

According to the fundraiser, Nelson was killed by an impaired driver while riding home from work that evening. He leaves behind a 2½-year-old son along with grieving parents, siblings, grandparents, extended family, and many close friends.

Organizers describe Nelson as “the kindest, gentlest soul,” remembering him as a fun-loving person and a proud, devoted father.

The fundraiser says the family has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of community support and expressed gratitude to emergency responders and medical personnel who assisted at the scene.

Funds raised will help cover funeral expenses and provide long-term support for Nelson’s young son, including future educational needs.

“We appreciate any contribution that you are able to provide,” the fundraiser states. “Every little bit will help.”
