Prime Minister Mark Carney was in Muskoka this week to attend the Dock 2026 (un)Conference, according to his official itinerary, which listed a 9 a.m. appearance at the event on July 17. The gathering was closed to the media.
While the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed Carney’s attendance, officials have not publicly disclosed the location, purpose of his participation or the topics discussed during the conference.
The Dock (un)Conference is widely described as an invitation-only event that brings together leaders from business, technology, investment, and government for private discussions. The conference has developed a reputation for hosting influential Canadian and international decision-makers in an informal setting, with sessions typically taking place away from public view.
Reports circulating online have suggested the event was held at Ferndale, a Lake Rosseau estate owned by Mattamy Homes founder Peter Gilgan, although organizers have not publicly confirmed details about this year’s venue.
Carney’s visit drew attention from local residents after an increased security presence, including RCMP officers and marine patrols, was observed on Muskoka lakes earlier in the week.
Because the conference operates under a media blackout, it remains unconfirmed what specific issues were discussed or whether any government announcements or policy initiatives were connected to the Prime Minister’s attendance.

A conference for the elites to push their agenda. At the ‘cottage’ of a big builder/developer. They just had HST on new homes eliminated and development charges (for municipal infrastructure) cancelled /scaled back. Yiu the taxpayer are now on the hook while the special interests drive away with the loot. Would the Prime Minister attended a conference where ordinary people could make their case heard? Where local Muskoka teenagers could ask why their entry-level jobs are being taken by temporary foreign workers from overseas. Doubt it. Hope the PM enjoys his time here with fine wines and cocktails, fine dining for by these elites.
