There is increasing alarm this morning for the health of the UK’s reigning monarch.
“Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision,” read a statement released today from Buckingham Palace. “The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”
Yesterday, the 96-year-old Queen pulled out of a Privy Council meeting, which was to be held virtually, after her doctors advised her to rest.
The Queen has been joined by Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, while Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, were on their way to the Scottish estate.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed via a spokesperson that they would also be travelling to Scotland.
“The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime,” Prime Minister Liz Truss wrote on Twitter. “My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.”
