Muskoka Aquatic Club’s athletes have been rocking pools all over Ontario this competition season. In February and March, the team attended Huronia Regional Championships in Barrie, Ontario Youth Junior Championships in Markham, and Ontario Swimming Championships in Toronto.
Dax Plexman attended all 3 meets representing Muskoka Aquatic Club with many stand-out performances. At Huronia Regional Championships in Barrie he earned 6 gold medals and 2 silver medals with a new club record in 50 breaststroke. At the end of the meet, he was presented the High Point Award as the top 13 year old male swimmer in the region.
Dax qualified for Ontario Youth Junior Championships in Markham in his two best events, 100 and 200 meter breaststroke. On the first day of the meet, he earned a bronze medal in 200 breaststroke, his first ever provincial championship medal. On the last day of the meet, he dominated the competition winning gold in 100 breaststroke, qualifying for Eastern Canadian Championships for the first time.
Most recently, Dax attended Ontario Swimming Championships at the Toronto Pam Am Sports Centre. He achieved 2 new best times in both 100 and 200 breaststroke, moving up in the rankings in the province. Although he just turned 14 weeks ago, he managed to finish 8th place in the 100 breast in the 14 & under age category.
Dax’s meteoric rise to one of the top swimmers in the province is a result of hard work and dedication to the sport. Although his success in the pool is impressive, he hasn’t yet reached his full potential in the sport. It will be exciting to watch him continue to mature and grow as an athlete. The sky’s the limit for this swimmer!
At the end of March, Dax will be attending Eastern Canadian Championships in Quebec City along with his teammates Mary Jibb, Hayley Oke, George Kierstead, Maddie Allison, and Sophie Rix. We can’t wait to see what they can accomplish on the national stage.
Registration for Muskoka Aquatic Club’s 3rd and final session of the season is now open. MUSAC has pre competitive programming (learning to swim) for swimmers aged 4-10, competitive programming for swimmers aged 6-18, and adult programs for swimmers aged 18-99.
