District reports a successful first week of clear garbage bag program

From the District Municipality of Muskoka:

Muskoka’s Clear Bag Program officially launched at the curb on March 3rd, and we’re excited to share some early results! 🚮

Based on District staff audit results during the first week (March 3-7):

✅~60% of households participated in the program

✅ 39% reduction in garbage collected at the curb

✅ 23% increase in organic collected at the curb

✅ Over 215 new green bin requests were made this week—amazing efforts to reduce waste, cut GHGs, and extend our landfill space! 🌍♻️

Way to go, Muskoka! Let’s keep up the great work.
