Explore the tastes of Thailand on a culinary adventure with Thong Thai

Muskoka residents now have the chance to embark on a culinary journey through Thailand, thanks to Thong Thai’s newly launched spring menu. This menu encompasses a variety of flavours from across the country, showcasing popular local street food favourites and cherished family dishes from owner Kim Tamwichai’s northern home.

“I’m very pleased to be able to introduce these dishes to the people of Muskoka,” says Tamwichai. “Many of the items on our new menu have been inspired by our customers’ experiences, with dishes they’ve tried in Thailand or larger cities, and we’re excited to bring them here.”

This year also marks a significant milestone for Thong Thai as it celebrates five successful years of operation at its location on Highway 11 northbound, just before the Bethune Road turnoff in Gravenhurst.

Thong Thai is celebrating this significant milestone with an impressive array of new offerings, featuring a revamped menu, a complete redesign of the restaurant’s interior, the launch of a new app, and an enhanced cocktail and beer selection, alongside a loyalty program for regular patrons.

“We have received incredible support from our customers since we opened,” shared Tamwichai. “We wanted to create something special to celebrate this occasion and show our gratitude.”

Among the new dishes is Khao Soi, inspired by Tamwichai’s roots in northern Thailand. This spicy and creamy yellow coconut curry noodle dish is topped with homemade crispy noodles and offers a choice of chicken, beef, vegetables, or tofu. “This dish comes from my family in Chiang Mai, and it is unique to that region,” she noted. “It features a delightful combination of textures and flavours that I love, and I always order it when I visit my family.”

Another highlight is Kra Pao Kai Dow, a popular street food dish in Thailand that presents a savoury minced chicken stir fry with fragrant Thai basil, garlic, and chillies. It is served with steamed rice and topped with a crispy fried egg along with Thai spicy fish sauce.

Responding to customer requests, Thong Thai has also introduced a crispy chicken fried rice dish. “We received numerous requests for crispy chicken on fried rice, so we decided to incorporate it into our menu,” says Tamwichai. This dish consists of house-fried rice, stir-fried with Thai basil sauce, eggs, onions, peppers, and green beans, topped off with crispy chicken.

Longtime favourites remain on the menu, including the signature green curry, which now comes with added noodles, reflecting a more traditional way to enjoy the dish in Thailand.

To complement the culinary experience, Thong Thai has rolled out a selection of signature cocktails. New additions include the Siam Sunset Sangria, Muskoka on the Beach, and the savoury Bangkok Blue Lagoon, alongside classic options like the mango mojito and lychee martini.

Additionally, Thailand’s beloved Singha beer has made its way to Muskoka, offering a balanced blend of sweet maltiness and hop bitterness.

Thong Thai has thoroughly updated its dining space while providing various delivery options through DoorDash, Uber Eats, and their own in-house service. All menu items and services can now be accessed through the Thong Thai app, which is available for download on the App Store and Google Play. The app also features a loyalty program, rewarding returning customers with bonus points that can be redeemed at the restaurant.

With glowing online reviews—holding a rating of 4.9 out of 5 on TripAdvisor, 5 out of 5 on Facebook, and 4.8 on both DoorDash and Uber Eats—patrons are encouraged to visit Thong Thai at 2408 Highway 11 North in Gravenhurst, call 705-905-4515, or explore their website at www.thongthaicuisine.ca.
