Dr. Ian Drennan was awarded the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal at a ceremony at the Royal York in Toronto on June 22, 2025.

Drennan was nominated by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada for his dedication and research into cardiac resuscitation aimed at improving the lives of those with cardiovascular disease.

He graduated from Pine Glen Public School and Huntsville High School before completing his education at the universities of Guelph and Toronto.

“It was a huge honour to be nominated and to receive the award. As a frontline paramedic, I am passionate about improving outcomes for people who suffer cardiac arrest. I have dedicated many years of research to this cause, and it was nice to be recognized alongside my peers,” said Drennan.
