Gravenhurst cottage fire results in $400,000 in damages

The Gravenhurst Fire Department was kept busy yesterday when roughly 20 firefighters successfully tackled a blaze in the Sam Cook Road area.

Yesterday the department reported that all crews had responded to a structure fire in the St 3 area near Sam Cook Road.

When firefighters arrived, the residence was well involved with fire. Water supply was established by portable pumps on Kahshe Lake. No injuries were reported. The Department reported that property access was very challenging as its located down a narrow road.

By late last evening, the fire was extinguished and crews cleared. The estimated damage to the cottage property was $400,000. The investigation is ongoing but it’s not considered to be suspicious.
