Council notes
A motion was passed to approve a 1.25 percent wage increase for management (non-union), firefighters and council. Provisions were previously made for this in the 2021 budget. The wage increase was to come into place on Jan.1, 2021 and would be paid retroactively. Deputy mayor Heidi Lorenz said she agreed with the 1.25 percent, but that she did not think it should be retroactive for council. An amendment was made to the motion, that the councillor’s wage increase would start from Aug. 1, but remain retroactive to Jan. 1 for firefighters and management/non-union staff.
Aerial apparatus
A report by fire chief Jared Cayley was received by council outlining the progress being made in adding an aerial apparatus to their fleet. “We have passed a few milestones and there are several more on the horizon,” said Cayley. The delivery of this “fantastic vehicle” is faster than originally expected and is due to arrive in March.

This disgusts me…on the one hand businesses cant find people to work and face having to close but these politicians continue to feed at the taxpayers buffet
I don’t begrudge an increase to firefighters and those who deserve it…but these guys do nothing to support the needs and issues brought forward by their constituents
