The Gravenhurst Curling Club (GCC) officially unveils its new wheelchair-accessible entrance with a ribbon cutting and plaque dedication on Thursday, February 12 at 12:15 p.m. This milestone marks a major step forward in the club’s ongoing commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and community participation.
Members of the Gravenhurst Special Olympics Curling Team will take part and be available for a photo opportunity before their regular Thursday game. Also on hand for the ceremony are Heidi Lorenz, Mayor of the Town of Gravenhurst; Rob Glecoff, owner of the Gravenhurst Home Building Centre; and members of the club’s Board of Directors.
With the upcoming Gravenhurst Winter Carnival weekend fast approaching, the new ramp better equips the facility to welcome athletes, members and visitors of all abilities.
“This project is about more than access to a building — it’s about belonging,” said Joanne Chase, President of the Gravenhurst Curling Club. “We are proud to support our Special Olympians, remove barriers, and ensure that everyone who wants to curl here can do so with dignity and ease.”
During the ceremony, the club will formally recognize Rob Glecoff for his generous contribution toward the ramp’s construction, acknowledging his continued commitment to inclusive sport and community initiatives.
Members of the media and community are invited to attend.
