A keen-eyed off-duty OPP officer helped get a heavily impaired driver off the road, a Bracebridge court heard recently.
Shannon Hill, 42, recently pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle with more than 80 g of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
Court heard that on July 18, 2022, at roughly 5:15 pm an off-duty police officer was driving behind a vehicle on Housey’s Rapids Road. The officer witnessed the vehicle cross the centre line several times and hit the shoulder and he contacted the OPP.
The OPP arrived on the scene and noted the woman appeared intoxicated and needed help standing.
The woman eventually blew readings of 320 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
Court heard Hill has a record for previous impaired driving.
She was sentenced to a $2,500 fine and a 12-month driving ban.
