Gravenhurst man gets jail time after break-in and fleeing police

A 29-year-old Gravenhurst man has been sentenced following a series of offences that included unlawfully entering a dwelling, breaching court orders and fleeing from police.

Timothy Cleaveley, 29, of Gravenhurst, pleaded guilty in Bracebridge court to unlawfully being in a dwelling, failing to comply with court orders, breaching house arrest and operating a vehicle while being pursued by police.

Court heard that on August 30, 2025, police were contacted about a possible break and enter at a residence on Four Seasons Road. The homeowner discovered drugs and a laptop inside her home containing a neighbour’s sign-in information. The front door appeared to have been kicked in.

A neighbour reported seeing Cleaveley and another man enter the home between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. One of the men was briefly locked outside and forced entry by kicking in the door.

The victim knew both individuals and confirmed Cleaveley did not have permission to be in her home. Both men were later arrested following a police investigation.

The court also heard that Cleaveley returned to the victim’s residence on September 14, yelling outside despite being prohibited from attending. He was again in the same trailer park on October 20, breaching his conditions.

On October 26, police attempted to stop Cleaveley while he was driving. Two cruisers were involved in the effort, but the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

Cleaveley was arrested on November 14, 2025, following a shelter-in-place advisory in Severn Township related to reports of a potentially armed individual. The incident, which prompted a response from the OPP Emergency Response Team and canine units, ended without injuries and no weapons were located.

Cleaveley received a sentence of 70 days in custody, credited as time served, followed by 18 months of probation.
