A 69-year-old Gravenhurst man has been sentenced after pleading guilty in Bracebridge court to impaired driving related offences.
Court heard that on Nov. 13, 2025, at approximately 7:09 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police were called to a reported fail-to-remain collision in Gravenhurst. A caller reported that a black SUV had struck a skid steer and sustained significant damage.
The caller told police the driver exited the vehicle after the crash but then left the area. The witness also reported that the driver appeared to be stumbling.
Police located the damaged SUV nearby and arrested Herbert Peleikis, 69, for impaired driving.
The court also heard that on Nov. 30, 2025, Peleikis was arrested again in Gravenhurst for driving while prohibited. During sentencing, the court noted he has a previous conviction for driving with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
Peleikis pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, to be served intermittently. He was also handed a two-year driving prohibition and placed on probation while serving his sentence.
