A 45-year-old Gravenhurst man has been sentenced to jail after pleading guilty to multiple criminal offences connected to a series of incidents that occurred in Muskoka in the summer of 2025.
Christopher Lamorie appeared in court and pled guilty to charges including theft, possession of stolen property, and assault with a weapon after intentionally striking a cyclist with his vehicle.
Court heard that on July 13, 2025, Ontario Provincial Police responded to a call from Canadian Tire in Gravenhurst regarding a theft. Store staff reported that Lamorie took a mountain bike valued at approximately $700 and rode it out of the store without paying. He was identified through CCTV footage, located by police shortly afterward, and arrested.
In the early morning hours of July 24, 2025, at approximately 3:50 a.m., OPP responded to a break and enter at a Whatta Station convenience store. Police determined that approximately $9,650 worth of tobacco products had been stolen during the incident.
On September 25, 2025, police were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle in Gravenhurst. Officers located Lamorie in a vehicle and discovered stolen cigarettes inside. He was charged with possession of stolen property in connection with the earlier break and enter.
Court also heard details of a violent incident that occurred on July 25, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers, along with Muskoka EMS, responded to reports of a collision involving a motor vehicle and a bicycle on Pinedale Road in Gravenhurst. Witnesses reported that Lamorie approached a cyclist from behind and intentionally made contact with the bicycle tire using his vehicle, causing the rider to be thrown from the bike. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
As a result of the guilty pleas, Lamorie was sentenced to six months in jail, followed by 12 months of probation. He was also issued a five-year weapons prohibition.
