From the Muskoka Community Foundation:
Affectionately known as “Mr. Philanthropy,” Gord Durnan has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for his years of service to community and philanthropy.
Nominated by the Muskoka Community Foundation, Gord was recognized on March 20th for his longstanding commitment to building strong, healthy, and caring communities across Muskoka and beyond.
A founding member of our Foundation, Gord has served in many roles on the Board of Directors. He continues to be a champion of the Muskoka Community Foundation and an advocate for charitable giving. Gord’s impact has rippled throughout our communities. He has supported both new and established organizations, and served on countless boards and committees, including the Community Foundations of Canada.
Executive Director Lynn DeCaro had the great pleasure of celebrating with Gord and Dave Uffelmann, MCF donor, past chair of the Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation, and former Community Foundations of Canada Board member.
It was truly an honour to be part of this moment, recognizing not just Gord’s incredible legacy, but also the power of community and the importance of giving back. How lucky are we to have such amazing people who call Muskoka home!
