Gravenhurst residents are being reminded that new ward boundaries will be in effect when they head to the polls for the 2026 municipal election.
The Town of Gravenhurst completed a ward boundary review in 2024 to help ensure residents have equitable access to their elected representatives as the community continues to grow and change. Following the review, council approved the new ward structure by passing Bylaw No. 2024-123 on Dec. 17, 2024.
The revised boundaries officially take effect for the 2026-2030 term of council, which begins Nov. 15, 2026. That means all ballots cast in the October 2026 municipal election will reflect the new ward boundaries, not the previous ones.
Residents are encouraged to verify which ward they live in before voting. The town has made a new ward boundary map available online, complete with a search function that allows property owners to enter their address and determine whether their ward has changed. While ward boundaries have been updated, the town notes that property owners’ municipal roll numbers remain unchanged.
The review was undertaken to maintain fair and effective representation across the municipality by balancing population distribution among wards and ensuring councillors represent residents as equitably as possible.
