With just seven months to go until the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy, Canada has unveiled a strong roster featuring over 40 snowboarders who will compete in five disciplines to vie for a spot on the Olympic team. Among the selected athletes is Gravenhurst’s own Liam Brearley.
The 2025/26 Canadian National Snowboard Team showcases a blend of seasoned Olympic and Paralympic veterans, long-term team members, and newcomers eager to make their mark. This year’s lineup covers all five snowboard disciplines: Slopestyle and Big Air, Halfpipe, Snowboard Cross, Alpine, and Para Snowboarding.
As part of Team Canada, Brearley and his fellow competitors will participate in various World Cups and significant international events throughout the season. Last year, Brearley made history by becoming Canada’s first-ever men’s Slopestyle World Champion.
A statement from Canada Snowboard highlighted the excitement surrounding the season, noting, “This season, all eyes will be on Cameron Spalding — our reigning Slopestyle Crystal Globe winner — and Liam Brearley, who became Canada’s first men’s Slopestyle World Champion last year. Both are at the top of their game and looking to keep pushing.”
