Hope Arises looks back on its first year

Hope Arises Project Inc., a Huntsville grassroots community-based organization has successfully completed its first year. The vision and mission of Hope Arises include the revitalization of Indigenous ways of being and knowing, strengthening cultural understanding and knowledge, and addressing cultural misconceptions and barriers.  Hope Arises offers expressions of Truth and Reconciliation through education, learning, and community connection.

Hope Arises proudly looks back at its first year filled with community support, numerous educational and community initiatives, and community networking opportunities.

“It has been a year of walking on water. Witnessing the profound impact education, and community commitment has had in the hearts and minds of people. We are truly grateful as we continue to be a beacon of Hope in our community,” said Joyce Jonathan Crone, President/Founder.

HIGHLIGHTS OF YEAR ONE:

Community speaking engagements:  Probus/Rotary, YWCA Girls Unplugged, and more.

Cultural Competency Transformative Education: St. Andrew’s College Aurora, Claren Academy, Vancouver, Huron Heights Kitchener, The Town Council of Huntsville, Enliven, Huntsville.

Community partners: The Town of Huntsville, The Huntsville Library, Deerhurst Resort, Hunter’s Bay Radio, Moose FM, Canvas Brewery, Sandhill Nursery, The Great Vine, Huntsville Festival of the Arts, and The Hub.

Community contributions: Deerhurst Resort, Women’s Leadership Initiative, Thomas William Digital Toronto, IDEA grant, Municipality of Muskoka, and private donations.

Community initiatives: Sacred Strength Ribbon skirt exhibit, Stand in Silence annual Vigil, Teaching circles, Orange ribbon Campaign, Gifts of the Seven Grandfather banners, Ribbon skirt making workshops, Orange T-shirt design scholarship and sales, HOPE birch tree planted in River Mill Park.
