House arrest for triple the limit driver

Erratic driving led to serious consequences for an impaired driver in Huntsville recently.

Appearing in a Bracebridge courtroom, Barbara Riewe, 62, of Huntsville pled guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. 

On February 9, 2025, at 6 p.m., the Huntsville OPP was dispatched to a vehicle that was driving erratically on Main Street West in Huntsville. Court heard the vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic and stopped in a live lane of traffic 

Police located the vehicle partially stuck in a snowbank on Main Street West and noted the female driver to show signs of intoxication. 

A breathalyzer came back with readings of 270 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood – more than triple the legal limit.

Court heard Riewe has a criminal record and she was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest, 12 months of probation and an 18 month driving ban.
