Huntsville man convicted on BB gun shooting

A Huntsville man who shot another person with a BB gun through the window of his car was in a Bracebridge courtroom recently.

Tyson Hickey, 23, pled guilty to assault with a weapon stemming from an incident that occurred on Aug. 10, 2022.

Court heard that on that day at 8:14 pm a member of the Huntsville OPP was flagged down by a concerned citizen. The citizen reported that a car was driving down the road and the driver had leaned out the window and then shot a BB gun at another man walking on the sidewalk. The driver then threw something at the pedestrian, the complainant reported.

The OPP caught up with the car, which Hickey was driving, and a BB gun was seized.

Hickey and the victim were known to each other but both men refused to elaborate on the background of the incident.

Hickey had no criminal record and he was given a suspended sentence and 12 months probation.
