Huntsville man sentenced to jail, probation after guilty pleas

A 40-year-old Huntsville man has been sentenced to jail time and probation after pleading guilty to several criminal charges in court.

Matthew Flynn appeared in court recently and entered guilty pleas to offences including breach of court orders, possession of stolen property, mischief and theft.

The court heard that on Aug. 30, 2025, Flynn damaged a television during an incident in Huntsville, leading to a mischief charge.

On Dec. 14, 2025, Flynn was stopped by Bracebridge OPP officers for being impaired in public. Police found he was in possession of a laptop and a small quantity of cash that had been stolen from a nearby vehicle. At the time of the incident, Flynn was already on probation.

Less than two weeks later, on Dec. 29, 2025, Flynn was arrested again after stealing a bottle of Crown Royal whisky from the Huntsville LCBO.

The court also heard Flynn has a prior criminal record.

He was sentenced to 60 days in custody followed by 18 months of probation.
