A driver was in a Bracebridge courtroom recently to answer for a drinking and driving-related accident.
Elise Williams, 32, pled guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in her system stemming from a single-vehicle collision that occurred Feb. 21, 2024.
Court heard that just after midnight on that day, Bracebridge OPP received a call regarding an accident on 12 Mile Bay Road in Georgian Township.
Police, firefighters and paramedics attended and found a vehicle in the ditch. The driver, Williams, refused to provide her name or receive any treatment for injuries. However, police smelled alcohol on her breath and inside the vehicle, they found beer and whiskey bottles.
A subsequent breathalyzer came back with readings of 160 mg of alcohol.
Williams had no prior record and she was sentenced to a $2,500 fine and a one-year driving ban.
