Instructions to Ontario Works clients and others due to Canada Post disruptions

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers are now on a nationwide strike. The strike will cause an interruption in postal service and will impact delivery of all mail and parcels.

The District has made preparations to support residents, clients and customers who rely on postal services to access District services such as Ontario Works program support or for making water and sewer payments.

Ontario Works Clients:

During the mail disruption, please note

  • we will not be able to send cheques or documents by mail
  • we will not receive documents sent by mail
  • payments made by direct bank deposit will continue

During the postal strike, Ontario Works clients who normally receive income support cheques by mail can instead access pick-up and drop-off locations that have been established at each of our Community Service Hub locations:

  • Gravenhurst Community Services – 141 Main Street, Gravenhurst
  • Bracebridge Community Services – 70 Pine Street, Bracebridge
  • Huntsville Community Services – 1 King William St, Unit 5 Huntsville

If you require a different pick-up location, have questions about picking up your mail, or if you would like to set up direct bank deposits, please call us at 705-645-2412 to talk to your Case Manager.

Water and Sewer Account Balance Inquiries:

During the postal disruption, residents can check their account balance by reaching out to Muskoka Water and Sewer:

Please allow 2-3 business days for a response due to higher call volumes.
