A Bracebridge court recently heard different stories regarding whether a driver drank alcohol before or after a collision in Gravenhurst.
Kenneth MacLeod, 34, appeared in court recently to plead guilty to dangerous driving stemming from an incident that occurred on Oct. 6, 2023.
Court heard on that day the Bracebridge OPP were called at 3:20 am regarding a truck that had been in a collision in front of a Gravenhurst residence. According to the caller, the driver of the truck had struck a parked car and then collided with a stand of trees before becoming stuck. A witness said a second truck arrived a short time later and attempted to extricate the first vehicle. When efforts proved unsuccessful both men left the scene in the second truck.
Police found MacLeod at another residence, confirmed he had been driving the vehicle, and believed him to be impaired.
MacLeod was originally charged with driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his system. However, the defence maintained that MacLeod had not consumed alcohol until after the collision occurred.
MacLeod was sentenced to a conditional discharge and 12 months probation.
