Getting pulled over for impaired driving was just the beginning of a Bracebridge man’s troubles in Huntsville, a court heard recently.
Appearing in a Bracebridge courtroom, Scott Eaton, 53, pled guilty to possession of fentanyl and impaired driving by drugs.
Court heard that on May 16, 2021, police received a call for service regarding suspected drug activity on Susan Street in Huntsville. The Huntsville OPP arrived at roughly 9:40 pm and located a vehicle driving in the area with the lights off and pulled over the driver, Eaton.
A pat down revealed a knife, a loaded syringe, two pieces of tinfoil with fentanyl inside and a quantity of crack cocaine. Inside the vehicle, police found more crack and fentanyl, along with another loaded syringe. Court heard Eaton appeared quite drowsy and ultimately fell asleep in the back of the cruiser.
He later tested positive for fentanyl, methadone, cocaine and several other drugs.
Eaton, who has a previous criminal record, was ultimately sentenced to nine months of house arrest, along with a three-year driving ban and 12 months probation.
