A Muskoka man is off to jail after a crime spree landed him in court.
Robert Iwanow, 37, of Bracebridge recently pled guilty to a range of offences including theft, stealing from an individual by using violence and threatening death to multiple individuals.
Court heard that on Feb. 14, 2023 Iwanow attempted to steal some $250 worth of items from the Bracebridge Walmart. On March 3, 2023, he was charged again after stealing $209 worth of dental care products from the Shoppers Drug Mart in Gravenhurst.
On Sept. 29, 2023, at 4:04 pm Bracebridge OPP was called regarding an assault at the Home Hardware in Gravenhurst. Court heard that several men had grabbed the victim, shoved him to the ground and then kicked him. Iwanow then took the man’s wallet, which contained between $400 and $500. Later that day police received another call about two men fighting. Iwanow was arrested at the scene and the wallet was found on his person.
Then on January 23, 2024, police heard Iwanow confronted a neighbour about his dog and shoved him to the ground saying, “I’m going to jail anyway,” court heard.
On December 24, 2023, Iwanow called another man telling him he’d “put a bullet in his head,” and threatening his family.
He was sentenced to eight months in jail and two years of probation.
