Appearing virtually in Bracebridge court recently, a man pleaded guilty to sexual assault stemming from a May 8, 2021 incident.
Earlier month this Kevin Nguyen, 39, pleaded guilty to sexual assault.
The court heard that the incident occurred on May 8, 2021 when a group of people were staying at a cottage in Bracebridge.
Some members of the group, including the victim, were drinking alcohol and consumed psilocybin tablets, but Nguyen did neither, the court heard.
The victim then went to sleep in the bottom of a bunkbed in one of the bedrooms while Nguyen went to sleep on the top. Court heard that at some point during the night, Nguyen moved to the bottom bunk and began sexually assaulting the victim. She awoke, kicked him out of bed, and then confronted him the next day about the incident. Later the same day the victim went to the hospital for a sexual assault examination kit and then went to the police to file charges.
Sentencing submissions for Nyguyen were postponed to a future date.
