A Gravenhurst man who violently attacked a storeowner is back in jail.
Travis Shleton, 33, recently appeared in a Bracebridge courtroom to plead guilty to assault, mischief, break and enter and robbery in relation to an incident that occurred on Jan. 14, 2025 in Gravenhurst.
Court heard that on that day at roughly 10:36 pm, police were alerted to a break and enter at Gravenhurst Variety.
Shelton had used a crowbar to smash his way into the store, court heard. However, once inside he was confronted by the store owner and a fight ensued. The store owner was punched and kicked, court heard, and sustained a black eye, bruises and lacerations that required 11 stitches.
In total, the damages and stolen goods amounted to more than $5,000.
Court heard Shelton had just been released from jail following a similar incident.
He was sentenced to 18 months in custody and two years of probation.
