Keen-eared officers in Gravenhurst were able to track down a motorcycle accident and an impaired driver, a Bracebridge court heard recently.
On Tuesday, Barry Cross, 38, pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
Court heard that on Sept. 15, 2021, the OPP were on patrol when they heard numerous motorcycles followed by a loud screeching sound. As they went towards the sound of the commotion they saw two motorcycles driving away and a third motorcycle being pushed by Cross.
They later determined that the screeching sound had been a vehicle collision. When they questioned Cross they smelled alcohol on his breath and determined he had been drinking at the time of the accident. He ultimately blew readings of 120 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
He was sentenced to a $2,000 fine, a one year driving ban and one year of probation.
