Multiple complaints lead to impaired arrest in Bracebridge

A Gravenhurst man ended up in court recently after multiple callers told the police they had concerns about him being behind the wheel.

Alexander Fairman appeared in a Bracebridge courtroom last month to plead guilty to impaired driving.

Court heard that on July 2, 2023, at 7:31 pm Bracebridge OPP received a call from a concerned citizen at a Bracebridge restaurant. The caller said Fairman and another man had consumed five pitchers of beer before leaving in a truck with Fairman driving.

A short time later police received a call from a different restaurant. The caller said the men had ordered a pitcher of beer but had spilled half on the floor. They were asked to leave but Fairman left his wallet at the bar.

Police caught up with Fairman on Bethune Drive in Gravenhurst and he was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

He ultimately blew a reading of 140 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.

He was sentenced to a $2,000 fine, 12 months probation and a one-year driving ban.

I would like to know which restaurant served five pitchers of beer to two people. Another restaurant then served another pitcher.
