Muskoka driver’s third impaired-related offence was triple the limit

David Richardson, 51, of Bracebridge has pleaded guilty to impaired driving following a court appearance in Bracebridge.

The court heard that on September 6, 2025, at approximately 7:03 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police observed a Subaru travelling slowly and swerving along Highway 118 in Bracebridge. Officers noted the vehicle then came to a stop in a live traffic lane, prompting a traffic stop.

Police suspected impairment at the scene. A subsequent breath test revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 292 mg per 100 mL of blood, more than three times the legal limit.

Richardson was sentenced to 45 days of house arrest, a two-year driving prohibition, and 12 months of probation.

The court also heard that he has two prior impaired-related convictions on his record, making this his third offence.

This is a travesty of justice. Three times? 45 days house arrest? This man needs to see hard jail time, a permanent loss of license, a huge fine and confiscation of his vehicle. It is long past time to get tough with those who put the rest of us at risk on the road!

  3. David Richardson really ROCKS the Cassbar just stay off the road Bro.

  4. Ryan James says:

Pretty standard stuff, maybe by around the fourth or fifth DUI he’ll start to behave better?
