The Township of Muskoka Lakes is inviting residents to participate in shaping the future of the Bala community by providing input on the allocation of reserve funds.
These funds, which total $192,400, were generated from a temporary land lease during hydroelectric construction between 2016 and 2020. The lease payments were structured as follows: $125,000 for the initial three-year term, followed by an additional $62,400 at a rate of $5,200 per month for a year after that, along with $5,000 allocated for the use of the Precambrian Shield Parking Lot during the 2019 Bala Cranberry Festival.
Now, these unallocated funds are being set aside to support projects that resonate with the community’s priorities. This initiative reflects the Township’s ongoing commitment to its Community Improvement Plan (CIP), which focuses on revitalizing and enhancing downtown areas through strategic investments and genuine public engagement.
To gather a wide range of opinions and ensure that the voices of all community members are heard, the Township is encouraging residents to participate in the following ways:
- Complete the Online Survey: Available now through August 22, 2025, on Engage Muskoka Lakes.
- Attend the Bala Farmers Market: Engage with Township representatives and share your ideas in person on Monday, August 18, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Jaspen Park.
