New Bracebridge Bandshell coming closer to fruition

Plans are advancing for the reconstruction of the historic Bracebridge Bandshell. Next week, the Bracebridge general committee will vote on whether to approve Mazenga Building Group North Ltd. for project management services related to the Memorial Park Bandshell Reconstruction Project.

Since the early 1900s, Memorial Park has served as a municipal park for residents and visitors alike, as well as various rental groups. However, according to the Town the existing bandshell structure is deteriorating, and it was decided that a new structure is needed to enhance the park’s appeal.

On November 13, 2024, Council ratified the final design and tendering process for the Bandshell Reconstruction Project. The project has been included in the draft 2025 Municipal Budget and Business Plan, with an allocation of $385,000.

Following the Council meeting, the Rotary Club of Bracebridge-Muskoka Lakes expressed its ongoing interest in developing and promoting the Bandshell Project as part of Bracebridge’s 150th anniversary celebrations. Rotary plans to engage a project manager to oversee the construction process, coordinate with the architect, and organize various construction entities to carry out the project, potentially leveraging donations of services.

The final bandshell design, approved on November 13, 2024, aims for a modern update while respecting the original design and its surroundings.

Rotary has recommended Mazenga Building Group North Ltd. to manage the construction project from inception to completion, ensuring it stays on schedule, within budget, and adheres to specifications.

Construction for the Bandshell Project is expected to commence in September 2025 to minimize disruption during the summer months and avoid conflicts with several special events already scheduled in Memorial Park.

I agree with Jack Lord. For that much money we should be getting way more than a bandstand.

$385,000 plus project management fees plus cost overruns when we have one there already. $500,000 for this !!!! Council are spending worse than drunken sailors. You can build a 4 bedroom house with kitchen, rec room, bathrooms, garage for this kind of money. The Town is already broke because of the $100 million borrowed money spent on the arena. Cant wait for the next election in 2026.
