Members of the Bracebridge detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call about the sound of gunshots at a townhouse complex where they located one person deceased inside a residence.

On June 14, 2022 at 7:00 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers responded to several 9-1-1 calls from residents at 125 Lofty Pines Place in the Town of Gravenhurst when they reportedly heard gunshots. Officers along with Muskoka EMS attended, secured the area and moved several people to safety. One woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Canine Unit attended to assist as the suspect was contained inside his residence. The suspect was located by officers inside the residence, deceased.

Lofty Pines Drive between Muskoka Road North and Walton Street was closed for several hours.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Muskoka Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Section (FIS) and anyone with information is asked to call Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
