A Huntsville driver found passed out at the wheel pled guilty to over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood recently in a Bracebridge courtroom.
The court heard that on June 16, 2022, the police received multiple calls at roughly 8 pm about a driver passed out behind the wheel on Etwell Road.
By the time emergency services arrived, the driver, Brian Hawes, 48, was semi-conscious but admitted to consuming alcohol and was unstable upon exiting the pickup truck.
Hawes ultimately blew readings of 210 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.
Court heard that Hawes has an unrelated criminal record.
“You were over double, approaching triple the legal limit,” said Justice Cecile Applegate. “You were clearly in no shape to be behind the wheel of a motor vehicle.”
He was sentenced to a $2,000 fine and a one-year driving ban.
