A man on his way back from a Maple Leafs playoff celebration in downtown Toronto made it all the way back to Muskoka before being arrested for drinking and driving, a court heard recently.
Appearing in a Bracebridge courtroom, Ryan Johnston, 31, pled guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
Court heard that on April 18, 2023, at 8:43 pm the Bracebridge OPP received a phone call regarding a possible impaired driver.
According to the Crown attorney, Johnston was on his way back from Maple Leafs Square in Toronto when he was pulled over at 9:59 on Lake Joe Road. Police smelled alcohol and he was taken to the nearest OPP detachment where he blew readings of 130 mg of alcohol per 100 ml.
Court heard Johnston has a previous conviction for over 80.
He was sentenced to a $2000 fine and 15-month driving ban.
