Speeding leads to impaired conviction in Huntsville

A Waterloo man recently pled guilty in a Bracebridge courtroom to impaired driving charges.

Appearing virtually, Matthew Fyfe, 32, pled guilty to an incident that occurred on Dec. 19, 2020, in Huntsville.

On that evening at roughly 11:30 pm, the Huntsville OPP noticed a speeding driver and proceeded to pull him over. The driver, Fyfe, fumbled with his driver’s license and police suspected he was impaired, the court heard.

He ultimately blew readings of 140 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.

Court heard Fyfe has a criminal record and he was sentenced to a $1,250 fine and one-year driving ban.
