From Gravenhurst High School:
Gryphons take on the York tournament!!
The GHS girls hockey team played in a two-day tournament where they faced off against teams from around the province. The team grew a ton, both in skill and connection, over the games, saving the best memory building moments for the final game.
In the bronze medal finals, we were set to face off against the @brucepends team, who we knew would overpower us based on a previous game. However, coaches from both teams connected before the game pitched the idea of mixing the teams to players.
Five Gryphons volunteered to swap with five Panthers, and this not only balanced the teams, but led to a TON of fun for everyone. The game ended in a 4-4 tie, went to overtime and then to a shootout!
Former GHS player turned head coach @coachkathockey said “Although my team lost in a shootout, I think it’s safe to say we all had a blast!”.
Well done Gryphons… and Panthers too!!
