Guests to Gull Lake Park in Gravenhurst can expect a newly re-envigorated park with tiered granite stadium seating when summer arrives.
During the most recent Gravenhurst council meeting, the contract for stadium seating at the park was awarded to Powcon for $499,947.
The project is being funded by the Rotary Club of Gravenhurst, as part of their Rotary Rocks the Barge initiative to celebrate their 85th anniversary.
“This is a fun one. Not that pipes and brigades aren’t fun but this is something that will be really impactful on the community,” said Andrew Stacey, the Gravenhurst Director of Infrastructure Services
Seating will be along the slope facing the lake, adjacent to the barge. People can use the seating to watch performances on the barge and other activities at the waterfront.
Construction is expected to start March 18 and conclude near the end of May so there’s no impact to the event seasons.
