A Gravenhurst woman nearly ended up paying the ultimate price after attempting to swallow illegal narcotics upon her arrest.
Appearing in Bracebridge court earlier this month, Whitney Wilson, 39, of Gravenhurst pled guilty to possession of cocaine and fentanyl and breach of probation.
Court heard that on June 28, 2023, the OPP was surveilling known drug dealers in the Veteran’s Way area of Gravenhurst. They observed Wilson exiting the residence while putting a ziplock bag in her purse.
The police attempted to arrest Wilson but police suspected she had swallowed some of the narcotics, court heard, and she began to show symptoms of a potential opioid overdose. She was treated and taken into custody.
She was found to be in possession of 7.9 grams of fentanyl and 26 grams of cocaine, court heard. She was also on probation at the time of the incident.
She was sentenced to time served on the breach of probation, and 33 additional days in custody for the drug offences.
