Suspect nabbed in theft of more than $25,000 worth of tools and copper wire

Members of the Huntsville O.P.P. detachment, Bracebridge O.P.P. and the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) complete an investigation and arrest a male subject for a pair of significant thefts in the Muskoka area.

On September 5th 2025 at 1445 hrs, Bracebridge OPP was dispatched to Home Depot located at 20 Depot Drive in Bracebridge for a report of a theft.  The suspect, identified later by employees at the Home Depot in Bracebridge reported a theft of approximately $5455.00

On December 27th, 2025, at approximately 4:17 a.m.,  280 m of bell copper cable-value between $20,000.00 to $40,000.00, was stolen from the Pickard Construction yard on Stephenson Road 12 in Huntsville.

The investigation involved members of the CSCU from Muskoka and North Bay, officers from the Huntsville OPP and Bracebridge OPP detachments. After a thorough and successful investigation the suspect was identified as Matthew KILBOURNE, 53 years old of Trout Creek Ontario.

Matthew KILBOURNE, has been charged with:

Theft over $5000 x 2

Fail to Comply with Probation x 2

Mischief

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000  x 2

The accused was held for bail when arrested and further courts dates are pending.
