Wanted man breaks into stranger’s apartment, barricades himself inside

The Bracebridge detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted an investigation after spotting a wanted person that led to an increased police presence in Bracebridge.

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on September 17, 2025, Bracebridge OPP officers in the town of Bracebridge observed a male party on Front Street in Bracebridge who was known to be a wanted person. The male party fled on foot and was soon located in a nearby apartment building where he had forced his way into an apartment and barricaded himself inside.

Bracebridge OPP officers, with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), maintained communication and were able to bring the male party into custody peacefully. The 26-year-old Bracebridge man was held in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge for a bail hearing on September 18, 2025.
