The caption reads:
“This is one of my very favourite images of “old” Muskoka (which basically means “before my time!”
I like it so much that I used it on the cover of my book “Railroading Muskoka” (published by, and available through the Muskoka Discovery Centre.)
Likely from the 1920s, arguably the pinnacle of the steamboat era, this image has it all — the Muskoka Wharf Station, the trains, the steamships, the people (straw hats and all), the baggage (including canoes). Note the second set of rails, indicating that the Wharf could accommodate at least two trains at once.
This image would have been composed from the north end of the platform looking back in the direction from which the trains arrived.”
