Wayback Wednesday: Hwy 141 – early 1900s

This photo was posted by Rod Brazier in Vintage Muskoka. The caption reads:

“Travelling the Muskoka Road – early 1900s

The caption of this Anderson postcard is a little misleading from our present perspective. While it does, in fact, show a portion of the Muskoka Road between Bracebridge and Huntsville, one has to remember that the original Muskoka Rd followed Manitoba St. in Bracebridge north all the way to Utterson, where it headed toward Huntsville via today’s Hwy 141. According to Lee Ann Eckhardt Smith, author of “Muskoka’s Main Street” (a wonderful read and resource BTW) this scene is along Hwy 141 near Utterson, with Long’s Lake in the background.”
