Winewood construction starts April 29

District staff and Fowler Construction will be resuming construction on Winewood Ave. E the week of April 29 to complete paving and final touches for this project.  

What’s happening? 

  • Removal of old asphalt between Muskoka Beach Rd. and Bethune Dr. N; 
  • New basecourse asphalt between Muskoka Beach Rd. and Bethune Dr. N; 
  • New top lift of asphalt between Muskoka Road N (Muskoka Rd. 18) and Bethune Dr.N; 
  • Sidewalk repairs at the Muskoka Beach Rd. intersection; and 
  • Final landscaping and restoration.  

Road closure duration 
Winewood Ave. E will be fully closed starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 6 and will reopen Thursday, May 9 at 5 p.m.

Travel impacts 

  • Winewood Ave. E will be temporarily closed to through traffic between Bethune Dr. and Muskoka Beach Rd.Detour signage will be installed to help drivers navigate the area. 
  • Emergency service access will be maintained throughout the road closure. 
  • Temporary single lane closures will occur for final paving activities between Muskoka Rd. N (Muskoka Road 18) and Muskoka Beach Rd. 

Waste collection 
Waste collection services will continue as usual during the road closure. Residents can set out their waste material on their regular collection day. 

Service interruptions 
There are no service interruptions scheduled for the remainder of this project. 

Project completion 
The project completion is anticipated by the end of May 2024.
